About
My approach to treatment explores both your current life and your past. I believe that the person we are today is largely influenced by significant relationships and life experiences. Our work together will focus on helping you work through repetitive and destructive patterns of behavior of which you may not be consciously aware. When we work through and understand these patterns, we can become "unstuck" and find greater happiness. By creating a strong therapeutic bond and a warm, compassionate environment, I can help you explore your life's story and address barriers to your mental and emotional wellness.
I specialize in attachment research and attachment bonds. Attachment begins at birth with one's primary caretaker, usually the mother. When a mother provides an environment that is predictable, responsive, and comforting, a baby may develop a secure attachment to his or her mother. When a baby's relationship with the mother is characterized by inconsistency in responsiveness, fear, or neglect, a baby may develop a more insecure attachment to his or her mother. These attachment patterns are carried with us throughout our lives and within all of our relationships with others, without our conscious awarenress. My work looks at the full picture of your life. Together, we can identify your patterns of attachment and find ways to help you lead a more peaceful and satisfying life.
As a licensed clinical psychologist, I also help individuals facing a wide range of difficulties, including, but not limited to, life transitions, trauma and grief, anxiety, stress, depression, relationship issues, women's issues, personality disorders, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia and related disorders, and substance abuse.
